Because You Can: Single Parents Writer Prize

Posted by
There are currently TWO prizes at $2000 each that come with a one on one consult/writing session with me (Helen Knott) . There is ALSO the Because You Can Award which is a cash only prize sitting at $300 (with more awards in the making!) The prize keeps growing so check back to see where it is at. There have been donations from people across Canada including some of your favourite writers: Ivan Coyote, Cherie Dimaline, Darrel McLeod, Monique Gray Smith, and Waubgeshig Rice. Let’s just say there are some surprises in the works for awardees. More information below:

How it started:  Okay, so when I started my book, In My Own Moccasins, some people helped my broke ass buy a laptop. It meant a lot to me as a single mom, to have people hold me up and believe in me. I was in school and raising my son who was six at the time. I have always wanted to be able to give back in some small way. I’m hoping to make this an annual thing and grow it. 🤷🏻‍♀️More info below
Prizes: $2000 each and a one on one consult session with me on whatever you are working on (if you are a writer) or general writing advice.
Because You Can Award: $300 cash only award.
